Mission
The Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM)
was established in 1985 to advance knowledge in the life sciences
for the improvement of human health. CABM is jointly administered
by the
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
and by Rutgers,
The State University of New Jersey. Completed in
1990, the 100,000 square foot CABM building is centrally located
on the Busch/Piscataway campus. Programs include:
Research
Faculty conduct basic research in cell and
developmental biology, molecular genetics, and structural
biology to improve understanding of fundamental life processes.
CABM researchers interact with clinical scientists to bring laboratory
discoveries rapidly to patient care.
Teaching
CABM faculty train undergraduate, graduate,
and medical students and postdoctoral fellows for leadership roles
in science and technology.
Service
CABM serves the public interest by enhancing
economic development through corporate collaborations in research
and education, by technology transfers, and through consultations.
It is designated by the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology
as a New Jersey Advanced Technology Center.
Research interests
of faculty at CABM are detailed in the following pages. Faculty
have a primary appointment in a department of either Rutgers
University or the UMDNJ-Robert
